Homecoming 2012

Our annual BYU Homecoming is next week and it is one of the biggest weeks of the year at BYU. The theme for this year is “Of Pillars and Cornerstones,” and we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Maeser building, which is the oldest building on our current campus. There are a lot of fun events planned. Here are a few of them:

Homecoming Opening Ceremonies: The official kickoff of Homecoming will be at the Marriott Center at 11:05 am, and will take the place of a normal devotional or forum.

BYUSA Barbeque: Free food in Brigham Square immediately following the ceremony

Hike and Light the Y: A long-time tradition to help light the Y. Shuttles will run from the Hinckley Center to the trailhead starting at 6 pm on Tuesday.

BYUSA Noonday Activities: Activities every day in Brigham Square.

True Blue Football

True Blue Football: Play football in blue foam. It’s free but bring your BYU ID. It will be on Wednesday 4-6 pm at Helaman Fields.

Homecoming Spectacular: Six of BYU’s performing groups will put on a show honoring the Maeser building. It will be Thursday and Friday at 7:30 pm in the Marriott Center. Tickets start at $10 for students.

Homecoming Dances: There are three dances: a formal, semi-formal, and a casual. All will start at 8:30 pm on Friday.

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast: Come eat free blue pancakes at various locations around campus starting at 8:30 am on Saturday.

Cougar Run: The 5K will start at the Robinson Track and Field at 9:45 am and will run the parade route.

Parade: The parade starts Saturday morning at 10 am at the Marriott Center and will travel down 900 E. and 800 N.

Football Game: Homecoming will end with the football game against Oregon State at 1:30 pm. on Saturday.
